🍞 Treat yourself to fluffy and irresistible Texas Roadhouse Rolls, perfect for any occasion.
🍞 Complement your main dishes with these soft, buttery rolls that everyone will love.

  • Total Time: 2 hours 35–55 minutes
  • Yield: 24 rolls

Ingredients

– 1 1/4 cups whole milk for hydrating the dough and activating yeast

– 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast for essential leavening

– 1/4 cup honey for subtle sweetness and browning

– 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted, divided for enriching dough and buttery flavor

– 1 large egg at room temperature for binding dough and richness

– 1 teaspoon salt for balancing sweetness and enhancing flavor

– 4 cups all-purpose or bread flour for structure and texture foundation

Instructions

First Step: Warm Milk and Activate YeastHeat the milk until just below boiling, when small bubbles form around the edges (scalding). Remove and cool the milk to lukewarm (80-90°F or 27-32°C). Stir in the honey and yeast, then let it proof for about 5 minutes until foamy (skip proofing if using instant yeast and mix directly).

Second Step: Mix Dough IngredientsIn a large mixing bowl or stand mixer, combine 3 tablespoons melted butter with the milk-yeast-honey mixture, add the room temperature egg and salt. Gradually add half of the flour, mixing slowly to incorporate. Continue adding remaining flour as needed until a smooth, soft, non-sticky dough forms. Dough may need up to 7-8 cups depending on flour and humidity.

Third Step: Knead the DoughKnead the dough by hand on a lightly floured surface or with a dough hook in a mixer on medium speed for 8-10 minutes until elastic and smooth.

Fourth Step: First RiseGrease a large bowl with oil or cooking spray, place the dough inside, turning once to coat. Cover with plastic wrap or damp towel and set in a warm place to rise until doubled in size, about 1 to 1½ hours. For consistent rising, use a turned-off oven with a pan of hot water nearby.

Fifth Step: Shape RollsPunch down dough and transfer to a floured surface. Roll dough to approximately ½ inch (1.27 cm) thickness in a rectangle. Fold in half lengthwise and gently seal the edges. Cut into 24 equal squares or shape into balls. Place rolls spaced on greased baking sheets.

Sixth Step: Second RiseCover rolls loosely and allow to rise a second time until doubled in size, about 30-60 minutes.

Seventh Step: BakePreheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake rolls for 12-15 minutes until tops are lightly golden. Remove from oven and immediately brush with remaining melted butter to enrich flavor and create a glossy crust.

Final Step: Serve WarmServe the Texas roadhouse rolls warm, optionally pairing with cinnamon honey butter for an authentic touch. Enjoy alongside hearty meals like steak and shrimp stir fry.
