πŸ¦ƒ This homemade turkey rub infuses meat with bold, balanced flavors ensuring every bite is juicy and delicious.
🌿 Its versatile blend of spices enhances turkey while promoting beautifully crisp skin for a perfect roast or smoke.

  • Total Time: 3 minutes (plus marinating time if desired)
  • Yield: Enough rub for a 12-14 pound turkey

Ingredients

– 4 lbs turkey breast provides the primary lean protein base

– 2 tbsp paprika adds smoky flavor and rich color

– 1 tbsp ground cumin offers warm, earthy seasoning

– 1 tbsp garlic powder enhances savory depth

– 1 tsp cayenne pepper delivers a subtle spicy kick

– 2 tsp kosher salt balances and enhances overall flavor

– 1 tbsp black pepper adds sharp, spicy notes

– 2 tbsp olive oil assists in spice adhesion and moisture retention

– 1 tablespoon Coarse Kosher Salt

– 1 tablespoon Chili Powder

– 1 tablespoon Paprika smoked preferred, but sweet can be used; hot paprika optional

– 1/2 tablespoon Ground Black Pepper freshly ground recommended

– 1/2 tablespoon Onion Powder

– 1/2 tablespoon Garlic Powder

– a dash Cayenne Pepper optional, mild

– 1 tablespoon Brown Sugar only when roasting or smoking; omit if frying

Instructions

1-First: preheat your oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C) and pat the turkey dry with paper towels. In a small bowl, combine the salt, chili powder, paprika, black pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper mix well as per the recipe directions.

2-Next: rub the spice mixture evenly over the turkey and under the skin for deep flavor. If you’re roasting, blend the dry rub with about 1/2 cup of softened unsalted butter or olive oil to make a wet rub, applying it mostly under the skin.

3-For frying or smoking, stick with the dry rub and ensure the turkey skin is dry for better adhesion. Place the turkey on a roasting rack in a baking pan and cook as directed, roasting for about 1 hour and 15 minutes until it reaches 165Β°F (74Β°C).

4-Once done, remove from the oven, tent with foil, and let it rest for 10-15 minutes.

5-Drizzle olive oil over the turkey breast for even coating, then generously apply the spice blend. Roast until the internal temperature is safe, and serve with sides for a complete meal.
