🍫 Nostalgic treat without the fire pit; perfect for parties, movie nights, or anytime cravings for chewy, crunchy, chocolatey bliss.

  • Total Time: 3 hours 30 minutes
  • Yield: 24 bars

Ingredients

– 1 box (12 count) frosted chocolate or s’mores Pop-Tarts for pastry base & layers

– 2 cups mini marshmallows for gooey texture

– 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk) for rich chocolate flavor

– 1 1/2 cups crushed graham crackers (about 10 sheets) for crunchy crust

– 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted) for binder & richness

– Sea salt (optional) for enhancing chocolate flavor and sweet-salty contrast

– Extra marshmallows (optional for topping) for visual appeal and extra gooeyness

Instructions

1-Preparation Phase: Creating this delicious smores poptart bar begins with proper preparation. Before you start assembling, ensure you have all your ingredients measured and ready. This smores dessert comes together quickly, so having everything in place will make the process smooth and enjoyable. Line a 9×13-inch pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang on the sides to help lift the bars out easily once they’re set.

2-First step: Crush 6 of the Pop-Tarts into small pieces and combine them with 1 cup of graham cracker crumbs and 1/4 cup of melted butter in a medium bowl. Mix until everything is well combined and resembles wet sand. Press this mixture firmly into the bottom of your prepared pan, creating an even layer. This crust will provide the perfect foundation for your pop tart bars, offering that satisfying crunch that contrasts beautifully with the soft layers above.

3-Second step: Melt 1 cup of chocolate chips with the remaining 1/4 cup of melted butter. You can do this in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, or use a double boiler on the stovetop. Once melted and smooth, spread this chocolate mixture evenly over the graham cracker crust. This layer adds richness and helps bind everything together while providing that classic chocolate element essential to any good smores dessert.

4-Third step: Chop the remaining 6 Pop-Tarts into bite-sized pieces. You’ll now begin layering the ingredients on top of the chocolate base. Start by spreading half of the chopped Pop-Tarts over the chocolate, followed by 1 cup of mini marshmallows. Repeat this process with the remaining Pop-Tarts and another cup of marshmallows, creating two distinct layers of pastry and gooey marshmallow.

5-Fourth step: Melt the remaining 1/2 cup of chocolate chips (you can use the microwave method again). Drizzle this chocolate over the top layer of marshmallows and Pop-Tarts. If desired, add a few more mini marshmallows on top for visual appeal and extra texture. You can also sprinkle a small amount of sea salt over the chocolate drizzle to enhance the flavors.

6-Final step: Place the pan in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours to allow the bars to set completely. If you’re short on time, you can place the pan in the freezer for about 30 minutes. The bars are ready when they are firm to the touch and hold their shape well. Once set, lift the bars out of the pan using the parchment paper overhang. Place them on a cutting board and use a sharp knife to cut into 16 equal-sized squares. For the cleanest cuts, you can run your knife under hot water and dry it between cuts.
