Ingredients
– 1 cup all-purpose flour (120g) Forms the base structure of the dough.
– 1/2 teaspoon baking soda (3g) Helps the cookies rise and achieve a light texture.
– 1/2 teaspoon salt (5g) Enhances the flavors and balances the sweetness.
– 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature (113g) Adds richness and creates a tender crumb.
– 1/3 cup granulated sugar (65g) Provides a crisp sweetness to the edges.
– 2/3 cup light-brown sugar, packed (140g) Contributes moisture and a deep, caramel-like flavor.
– 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract (10ml) Boosts the overall aroma and taste.
– 1 large egg Binds the ingredients and adds richness.
– 1 1/2 cups rolled oats (135g) Gives the cookies their chewy texture and nutritional boost.
– 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips (150g) Delivers those irresistible chocolate bursts.
Instructions
1- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda, then set aside.
2- In a separate bowl, combine the butter with both sugars and beat on medium speed until the mixture is light and fluffy.
3- Reduce the speed to low, add the salt, vanilla extract, and egg, then beat until well mixed.
4- Add the flour mixture and mix until almost combined.
5- Stir in the oats and chocolate chips. For better results, chill the dough for one hour to overnight if desired.
6- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
7- Use a small ice cream scooper (about two tablespoons) to drop balls of cookie dough, spaced about 2 inches apart, on baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
8- Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the edges are golden but the centers remain soft.
9- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 1 to 2 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
