Ingredients

– ¾ pound fresh or frozen strawberries

– 1 teaspoon granulated sugar

– 1 teaspoon red gel food coloring (optional)

– 7 ounces sweetened condensed milk

– 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract

– ⅛ teaspoon coarse kosher salt (or half as much if using table salt)

– 1 cup cold heavy whipping cream

– ½ cup orange juice

– 1 teaspoon freshly grated orange zest

– 1 drop orange gel food coloring (optional)

Instructions

1-First Step: Wash, hull, and puree the strawberries, then simmer with sugar until reduced and cool completely.

2-Second Step: Mix the cooled strawberry puree with condensed milk, vanilla, and salt; blend until smooth.

3-Third Step: Whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form and fold it into the strawberry mixture carefully.

4-Fourth Step: In another bowl, whisk the orange ingredients together and fold in whipped cream separately.

5-Fifth Step: Layer the strawberry and orange mixtures in a container, swirl gently, and freeze for at least 8 hours.

6-Final Step: Let the sherbet sit at room temperature for 10 to 15 minutes before serving to soften and improve scoopability.
