Ingredients

– 2 teaspoons olive oil

– 1 pound Italian sausage

– 1 cup sliced white onion

– 1 cup sliced red onion

– 1 sliced red bell pepper

– 1 sliced yellow bell pepper

– 1 sliced orange bell pepper

– 3 sliced garlic cloves

– 3/4 teaspoon kosher salt

– 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

– 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes

– 1/2 cup apple cider or red wine

– 1 tablespoon chopped parsley

– 2 tablespoons fresh basil for garnish

Instructions

1-Heat 2 teaspoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add 1 pound of Italian sausage, breaking it apart as it cooks until browned, about 6-8 minutes.

2-Remove the sausage and set it aside. In the same skillet, add 1 cup sliced white onion, 1 cup sliced red onion, 1 sliced red bell pepper, 1 sliced yellow bell pepper, and 1 sliced orange bell pepper. SautΓ© until softened, around 7 minutes.

3-Stir in 3 sliced garlic cloves, 3/4 teaspoon kosher salt, 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, and 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes. Cook for another 2 minutes to release the aromas.

4-Pour in 1/2 cup of apple cider or red wine, then return the sausage to the skillet. Mix everything together and cook for 5 more minutes to blend the flavors.
