– 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

– 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

– 2 teaspoons ground ginger

– 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

– 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

– 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

– 1/4 teaspoon salt

– 1/3 cup unsulfured molasses

– 1/2 cup buttermilk

– 1/2 cup packed dark brown sugar

– 1/2 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)

– 2 large eggs

– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

– 8 ounces full-fat cream cheese (room temperature)

– 1/2 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)

– 4 cups powdered sugar

– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

– 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

– A pinch of salt

Instructions

1-Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.

2-Whisk together the dry ingredients in a bowl.

3-Cream the butter and sugar, then add wet ingredients.

4-Alternate adding dry and wet mixtures to the batter.

5-For adaptations, replace butter with coconut oil for vegan options.

6-Divide batter into liners, filling about two-thirds full.

7-Bake for 18-22 minutes and cool on a wire rack.
