Ingredients

– 1 cup unsalted butter at room temperature

– 3/4 cup granulated sugar

– 1/4 teaspoon table salt

– 1 to 2 teaspoons espresso powder optional

– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract optional

– 3 large eggs

– 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

– 1 cup chocolate chips

– 1/2 cup heavy cream

Instructions

1-Preparation: Preheat oven to 375°F. Lightly grease an 8″ round cake pan and line the bottom with greased parchment paper.

2-Melting Base: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine chocolate and butter. Heat until melted and smooth, stopping to stir every 30 seconds to prevent burning.

3-Mixing Ingredients: Stir in sugar, salt, espresso powder (if using), and vanilla extract (if using). Add eggs and beat until smooth. Mix in cocoa powder until just combined.

4-Baking: Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25 minutes, until the top forms a thin crust and the center registers 200°F.

5-Cooling: Cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then turn out onto a serving plate. Allow to cool completely before glazing.

6-Glaze Preparation: For the glaze, heat cream until fine bubbles form. Pour over chocolate chips and let rest for 5 minutes. Stir until smooth.

7-Finishing: Spoon the glaze over the cooled cake. Allow it to set for several hours before serving.
