Ingredients

– 1/2 cup salted butter, softened

– 1/2 cup granulated sugar

– 1 large egg, at room temperature

– 1/2 cup whole milk ricotta cheese

– 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

– 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

– 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg

– 1 to 2 teaspoons orange zest

– 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour (or whole wheat flour as a healthier substitute)

– 1/4 teaspoon baking soda

– 1 teaspoon baking powder

– 1/3 cup roughly chopped pistachios

– 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips

Instructions

1-First, gather all ingredients and preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C) to get your workspace ready.

2-Mix the dry ingredients 1 1/4 cups flour, 1/4 teaspoon baking soda, and 1 teaspoon baking powder in a bowl and set aside.

3-Cream 1/2 cup softened butter and 1/2 cup sugar until fluffy, then add 1 large egg, 1/2 cup ricotta, 1 teaspoon vanilla, 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg, and 1 to 2 teaspoons orange zest.

4-Gradually add the dry mix to the wet ingredients and stir until combined.

5-Fold in 1/3 cup chopped pistachios and 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips to form the dough.

6-Chill the dough for 30 to 60 minutes, then scoop portions onto baking sheets.

7-Bake for 12 minutes, cool on racks, and add optional toppings.
