  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

– 200g Camembert cheese provides the creamy, distinctive base flavor

– 1 tbsp olive oil adds subtle richness and aids in cooking

– 2 cloves garlic, minced enhances aroma and depth of taste

– 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves offers an herbal note balancing the cheese

– 50g walnuts, chopped adds texture and nutty richness

– Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste essential seasoning

– A handful of mushrooms for the flavorful topping base

– Butter enough for frying mushrooms use just enough to fry until golden brown

– 1 tablespoon chopped tarragon adds a fresh, herbal touch

– Truffle oil quantity to drizzle drizzle over the top for enhanced flavor

– plant-based Camembert-style cheese substitutes for vegan option

– walnuts from gluten-free sources for gluten-free option

– pumpkin or sunflower seeds for low-calorie option

Instructions

1-Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Prepare your toppings by finely chopping the walnuts and mincing the garlic.

2-Slice the Camembert cheese into even rounds about 1 cm thick for uniform cooking.

3-Lightly brush each cheese slice with olive oil, then sprinkle minced garlic and thyme leaves evenly over the top.

4-Arrange the cheese slices on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, ensuring they are spaced apart.

5-Sprinkle the chopped walnuts over the slices and season with salt and pepper to taste.

6-For the mushroom topping, top the baked Camembert with the mushroom mixture and drizzle with truffle oil right after baking.

7-Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes until the cheese is soft. For the mushroom version, bake the Camembert first at 190°C for about 15 minutes until melted, after removing the lid and wrapping, placing it in its base on a baking tray, and cutting slits on top. Prepare the topping while it bakes and add immediately after.

8-Final step: Remove from oven, let cool slightly, and serve warm. This ensures the cheese stays creamy and pairs well with the toppings.
