🍞 This Baked French Toast Sticks recipe offers a delicious cinnamon sugar coating that adds a sweet and crunchy touch.
⏰ Perfect for a quick yet comforting breakfast, it’s easy to prepare and bake with wholesome ingredients.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes

Ingredients

– 2 tablespoons granulated sugar

– 1 teaspoon cinnamon

– 1 cup milk (whole milk preferred, but any milk works)

– 4 eggs

– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

– a pinch salt

– 8 slices Texas toast bread

– 2 tablespoons butter, melted (plus more for serving, optional)

– maple syrup for serving

Instructions

1-Preheat the oven and prepare the baking sheet: Start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and lining an 18 by 13-inch baking sheet with parchment paper. This sets the stage for even baking and makes cleanup a snap.

2-Prepare the cinnamon sugar mixture: In a small bowl, whisk together the 2 tablespoons granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon, then set it aside for later.

3-Mix the egg base: Now, in a medium bowl, whisk together the 1 cup milk, 4 eggs, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until everything is well blended. This mixture is your flavorful base!

4-Cut the bread: Cut each of the 8 slices of Texas toast into three strips to get those perfect stick shapes.

5-Dip and arrange bread strips: Dip each bread strip into the egg mixture, letting the excess drip off before placing them closely on the prepared baking sheet, with a little space between them. Brush the tops with half of the 2 tablespoons melted butter and sprinkle with half of the cinnamon sugar mixture. Bake for 13 minutes, then flip the sticks, brush with the remaining melted butter, and sprinkle with the rest of the cinnamon sugar.

6-Bake and finish: Pop them back in the oven for an additional 13 to 18 minutes until they’re cooked through and golden. Let them cool for a few minutes, and if you like, brush with a bit more melted butter before serving warm with maple syrup.
